History
Scubadelphia and Diveseekers were originally two different dive centers about an hour drive from each other. Scubadelphia was founded in 2011 by Dave and Melissa Barnes who have grown the business into one of the largest PADI Five Star Instructor Development Dive Centers in the Delaware Valley. Diveseekers was originally called The Scuba Connection in Hillsborough, NJ. George and Sydney Fisch opened the store in 1996 providing scuba sales, training and award winning travel to the Princeton, NJ area and surrounding towns and counties. Their sons Jason and Wayne expanded the business in 2008 renaming it Diveseekers to start a worldwide online sales. This was also the start for ReVo and JJ Rebreather sales, training and distribution.
Dave, Melissa, Jason and Wayne have been friends for many years and in 2018 decided that Scubadelphia would purchase Diveseekers and move the inventory and online store to Philadelphia while keeping Justin Mickey as our eCommerce director. His attention to detail and customer service allows both Scubadelphia and Diveseekers to equip recreational, technical, commercial, military and public safety divers as well as train them from beginner to instructor to technical levels and everything in between. We sell scuba gear to 42 countries and over 25 public safety dive teams, military DOD sales as well as our local market and in store retail sales at our Philly based dive center brick and mortar storefront.
We refer to ourselves as Scubadelphia Diveseekers to keep all traditions going as we continue to use staff from both dive centers. Sydney is still running our travel department and picking out some great destinations. We continue to provide top instruction and great service to all of our customers and friends.
The dive center is one of the top three retailers for Shearwater in the WORLD and one of the top five retailers in the USA for Halcyon Dive Systems. We are also retailers for the following great products: Atomic, Apex, Aqualung, Bare, Big Blue, Cressi, Dive Rite, DUI Drysuits, Fourth Element, Genesis, Halycon, Henderson, Hollis, Ikelite, Light Motion, Light Monkey, Mares, McNett, SANTI, Oceanic, Princeton Tech, ScubaPro, Sea & Sea, SeaLife Cameras, Underwater Kinetics UK, Shearwater, Sherwood, Uwatec, XS Scuba, Zeagle and many more products. We keep many products in stock ready to ship or pick up and we have many products in our rental fleet for you to test out.
When deciding to take scuba classes or purchase gear in store or online consider some factors:
Does the dive center have the knowledge and experience to instruct you properly in the pool and open water and answer any questions about book or elearning? Are they knowledgeable about the gear that they sell? Are the prices fair? We have two PADI Course Directors, many IDC and MSDT Instructors on the dive staff and plenty of knowledge on the retail and online side because we actually dive the gear that we sell. Our staff dive locally in New Jersey and at Dutch Springs often and we travel extensively. If there are certain training questions or product inquiries you have or you want to know more about a particular destination, please don?t hesitate to ask.
As far as pricing, our classes are average for the local area and we don?t hide any costs or fees. It will cost you around $950-$1000 to get fully certified locally so if you see much lower pricing ask about it. Our gear is priced at the manufacturer?s minimum advertised price (MAP) so if you see lower pricing it could be a gray market sale without a warranty or very old product stock.
We are here to help everyone so don?t hesitate to reach out.
